What is a Power Commander?

The Power Commander is a fuel injection adjustment unit that plugs "inline" with the bike’s stock ECU (electronic control unit). The PC uses original equipment style connectors, so no splicing or cutting of the harness is required. Most installations take less than 15 minutes, some as little as 5 minutes.

Changes are made to the bikes fuel and, in some cases, ignition curves via the PC's onboard microprocessor. Using this technology we are able to offer a large area of adjustment without making any permanent changes to the bike’s ECU. Removing the PC returns the bike to its previous stock condition. Each unit comes complete with software and cable link that allows you to change between different maps or make adjustments to a map file.

From:
www.powercommander.com

A Topic on the RICO Act.

Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act is a federal law enacted to give extended penalties in the prosecution of organized criminal acts. The RICO Act is codified as Chapter 96 of Title 18 of the US Code, which deals with federal crimes and criminal procedure. Although it was intended to be used for the Mafia and others engaged in organized crime, RICO has been used to prosecute all sorts of criminal activity since its inception.

Under the RICO Act, a person can be charged with racketeering — which includes bribery, extortion, illegal drug sales, loan sharking, murder and prostitution — if he or she has committed two of the 27 federal and eight state crimes under US legislation within a 10-year period. The law gives the government the power to criminally prosecute and imprison a Mafia leader — interchangeably referred to as the Boss, the Don, or the Godfather — even if he or she has never personally committed any of the components of racketeering. This is because he is part of a criminal enterprise.

RICO sets criminal penalties as a result of racketeering activity. Convicted persons are fined or sentenced up to 20 years in prison. In some cases, however, where the violation is based on a crime for which the maximum penalty includes life imprisonment, the defendant can receive a life sentence.

The RICO Act provides a civil suit component, which is provided for victims. This includes the relatives of a murdered victim, employers whose workers the Mafia bribed, extorted businessmen, and loan shark debtors. Such people or parties can sue the Mafia leader for damages as a result of the racketeering activity. If convicted, the Mafia leader is responsible for compensation to the injured party at triple the damages, plus the cost of the suit and attorney fees. The defendant must also surrender any profits or gains made from his crimes.
